Samson Dodzi Fenuku, PhD

Dr. Samson Dodzi Fenuku is a Ghanaian-Russian trained language specialist, entrepreneur, business executive and astute academic. He was the Director of the erstwhile Ghana Institute of Languages, now the Acting Rector of the Institute of Languages-University of Media, Arts and communication UniMAC-IL. As a language professional, he speaks English, French, Russian and two local languages: Ewe and Twi. He has also lectured across various universities including University of Ghana. Dr. Fenuku attended several workshops and conferences. He has authored several books and book chapters. He has also published scientific researched articles in peer-reviewed and refereed journals of global reputation, thus contributing to the knowledge of not only Language Teaching Methodologies but also the Russian Language and its business impacts on developing economies.

It comes as no surprise that Dr. Fenuku is the Accredited Translator for the Russian Embassy in Ghana.

Dr. Fenuku has been the official Conference Interpreter at several international conferences and has undertaken dozens of translation services. He is a certified and official Russian Language Translator in Ghana.

Dr. Fenuku is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Media, Arts and Communication-Institute of Languages (UniMAC-IL). He is a seasoned language expert with varied expertise in General Linguistics, Language Pedagogy, Translation/Interpretation, Public Administration and International Relations and Development.

Samson Dodzi FENUKU, PhD, is a Russian-trained seasoned academic and administrator spanning decades of teaching, interpreting and translating English, French, Russian and Ewe Languages. He is also an accredited member of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (IATRLL) and the Ghana Association of Translators and Interpreters (GATI). Samson doubles as an Accredited Translator for the Russian Embassy in Ghana.

Dr. FENUKU was the Head of the Russian Department and later the Head of School of Translators (SOT) at the erstwhile Ghana Institute of Languages. He became Acting Assistant Director, Assistant Director, Acting Director, Director and Interim Rector. Until 30th September, 2024, he was the Acting Rector of the Institute of Languages-University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC-IL).

From 2011 to 2017, he studied and graduated from the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute, 6 Volgina Str., Moscow, Russia with an MPhil. (Russian Philology) and PhD (Pedagogical Sciences with Specialization in Teaching of Russian as a Foreign Language). He also graduated from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration in 2022 with a Master of Public Administration (MPA). Craving for further knowledge, he annexed an MA in International Relations and Development (MAIRD) from Nyansapo College in July, 2024. He is a product of the University of Ghana, from where he graduated with honours in French and Russian Languages in 1994. He is an alumnus of School of Translators (SOT) of the erstwhile Ghana Institute of Languages.

Samson has published several articles in highly reputable peer-reviewed journals. He also attended several international conferences and workshops. He loves technology and has decided to conduct research activities in the field. His research areas include Pedagogical Sciences, Language Education and General Pedagogy, Translation and Interpretation, Communication Skills, Public Administration, International Relations and Development as well as Information Systems.
